Evaluations for Defendants in Criminal Court
At times, triers of fact will be tasked with balancing the significance of the aggravating and mitigating factors of a criminal case, as well as applying such factors when convicting, acquitting, or in sentencing of defendants. Dr. Edwards’ academic and applied training in psycho-legal issues allows her to competently integrate clinical principles, ethical standards, and forensic assessment tools to provide these specialized evaluations to the court. Dr. Edwards has completed these evaluations routinely, due to her experiences within jails, prisons, and other correctional facilities, as well as within her private practice.
Parents involved with high conflict divorce, parents currently navigating the separation process, or even parents who simply need assistance with breakdowns in communication from time to time can all benefit from therapy. Dr. Edwards specializes in coparenting therapy, which aims to separate couples’ former relational hostilities from their ongoing parental responsibilities. This particular therapy also focuses on achieving an amicable coparenting arrangements, determined and outlined by the coparents, in order to decrease the stress on the children involved, as well as the family dynamic as a whole.

Collaborative Coaching & Mediation
Collaborative practice is a customized, client-centered process through which families resolve divorce, child custody and other legal issues respectfully and efficiently, avoiding litigation and focusing on solutions to meet each family’s unique needs. All participants work together in a transparent, structured and supportive environment. Dr. Edwards is trained as a Coach in the Collaborative process. As a coach, Dr. Edwards may meet with you outside of the collaborative meetings, as well as participate during meetings to help you and your coparent decide on parenting plans, activities, or help develop methods for resolving potential conflicts.
Similar to the collaborative process, mediation can be used for multiple purposes and across different divisions of our judicial system. Perhaps you’re having a dispute regarding a real estate transaction and you’d like to avoid an arbitration panel or litigation. Maybe you’d like to attempt and resolve a contentious Will & Estate matter outside of court. Or, you would simply like assistance from a third party in negotiating the terms of a contract. All of these, and more, are reasons to request additional information on mediation.
